Dain apears ridding a pig at he’s cousin call to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and throws the old twirly-whirlies(spinning arrows) at Thranduil's Army ,that means that Dain wants Thorin's treasure and he wants to be crowned king, the spinning arrows are a metaphor for treachery/trickery.
